My first book, Teton Skiing: A History and Guide was published in 1995. In the words of Lou Dawson, “…Turiano uses 221 pages to cover every aspect of backcountry skiing as practiced in the Tetons for the past century. This fantastic book includes a detailed history, as well as descriptions for all the ski routes in the range—from mellow walks through the forest to descents of wild couloirs…”
Teton Skiing is out of print. No copies are available.
But, an update is coming…hopefully in the next few years…with the working title: “Teton Skiing: The High Peaks.” Exum guide and ski pioneer Adam Fabrikant and I will be co-authoring the book. It will have superb photography of all of the skiable aspects on the Teton high peaks, route lines on the photos, and then a short history and route description of every route.
A broader volume will follow, hopefully in the next decade…with the title: “Jackson Hole Backcountry Skier’s Guide: North.” This big book is essentially written and finished, since around 2010, but actually finishing it and making it into a book will take some time. It will include the Tetons, Big Holes, southern Yellowstone, Togwotee Pass, and the northern Gros Ventre.
